Archiving Procedure

The Chiara Fumai Archive collects the documentation related to Chiara Fumai’s works to preserve, research, enhance her memory and safeguard the collecting of her works, with a view to the creation of a general catalogue. The works whose archiving is requested are examined by a scientific committee.

The Archive proceeds only with the archiving of those works which, subject to the careful evaluation of the scientific committee, are deemed suitable for inclusion in the general catalog.

In the event of a positive outcome of the examination, the work will be catalogued within the archives and the corresponding certificate will be sent. In the event of a negative outcome of the examination, the Archive will send communication to the owner of the work.

To submit a work for examination, it is necessary to send the following documentation:

— 2 professional color prints of the work on 18 x 24 cm photographic paper

— 1 color photographic print of the reverse, legibly including details of any inscriptions, labels, stamps, etc. (where necessary via more photos)

— 1 color copy of the certificate of authenticity issued by the artist, if any

— USB stick containing digital copy of the above photographs in jpg or tiff format, minimum resolution 300 dpi, minimum base 30 cm (due to file size, please do not send material via email)

— form filled in with the data of the work (download here)

— receipt of payment of the cost of examining the work

— photographer’s authorization to publish the photo in the catalog raisonné and photographer’s declaration of no claim for such publication from the Chiara Fumai Archive (download here)

The shipment must be made by registered mail or express courier to the following address:

Chiara Fumai Archive C/O Milovan Farronato, Via Carlo Farini 57/A, 20159 Milan.

The cost for the examination procedure for each work is € 200,00.

If the archiving certificate is requested for more than one work, please contact the Archive to request the flat-rate price, which is in relation to the number of works, and which the Archive reserves the right, without any obligation, if necessary to formulate. In the event that the Archive does not agree on a flat rate, the cost for the examination procedure is € 200,00 for each work as indicated above.

The Archive accepts payment only by bank transfer to the following bank account. Please do not send cash, checks or other payment methods.

Reason:
Indicate the name of the applicant, and, if known, the title and year of the work.

At the discretion of the Archive, further documentation or the delivery or shipment of the work itself to its headquarters for direct analysis may be requested.

If the Archive requests direct analysis of the work, the return shipment of the work, as well as the packing and unpacking practices are the responsibility of the owner of the work. It is agreed from now on that the Archive cannot be held responsible for any damage deriving from the transport, packing and unpacking of the work. It is understood that the Archive cannot be held responsible for any damages caused to the work in any way or by anyone during the period of permanence of the work in the Archive premises for direct analysis. By filing a request, the owner of the work waives all claims/rights against the Archive. Given the foregoing, the Archive may subordinate the direct analysis to the request for suitable insurance coverage at the expense of the applicant for the entire period in which the work will remain on the premises of the Archive for direct analysis.

Payment does not guarantee the issue of the archiving certificate, which will only take place only if, upon review by the scientific committee, the Chiara Fumai Archive deems the work suitable for publication in the general catalogue.

The certificate will be issued in a single original copy and can be requested only once.

Material sent by post will not be returned.
